One of the best is the original Mexican restaurant in LA, El Cholo. It's first location opened in like 1922, or something like that, on Western Ave. There are a few other locations.

Their fajitas are the best, using chicken breast, a nice tender steak, or shrimp. I am not sure if it is at every location but they have prices rolled back to 1952 on Mondays and Tuesdays at the location near me. One of the best dishes is almost out of season, the Green Corn Tamales (ends this weekend). But what is really great things are the items that are not on the menu. The Chimi Chungas (sp), although are merely deep fried burritos, doing it to one of their specialty burritos is a find. My favorite item not on the menu is the Las Hades. Ask your server to describe it and any other dishes they can conjure up. zWhat is the best Mexican food in Los Angeles?
