What mexican food is least fattening?

Tonight I am going to mexican restaurant. I want to eat the most heathest item on the menu. I realize that mexican food isn't healthy, but.....are their items that are more bad than others?What mexican food is least fattening?
Fill up on some chips and salsa, chicken tortilla soup is usually good, as long as it isn't cream based (I've only seen that once though). As others said, fajitas are good, and burritos without cheese should be good also. Just ask them to put sauces or condiments on the side, and hold the cheese.What mexican food is least fattening?

most places have salads...get it without the fried tortilla shell. when i was doing low carb i would get fajitas and not eat tortillas.

Actually mexican food is very healthy. Its the american version of it that its not. We eat lots of seafood and breads.



Grilled Fahitas are the best bet for you. Chicken or Shrimp.

Get Avocado slices, not guamole. Ask for lettuce, tomatoes on the side. The meal will come with grilled onions and green or red bell peppers.



The highest in calories is the refried beans, so get charro beans, these are whole beans and very good for you.

The Cheese is also high is calories. NO cheese or Dairy.



The salads have hidden fats, a layer of beans or cheeses, so be cautious- ask first.
Common sense -- bread (tortillas) and fried foods. Rice is good for you and is usually cooked with seasonings and tomatos. Beans are healthy and full of protein. Mexican food has a bad rap!! It is generally very healthy if done right.
Enchiladas are wonderful and can be filled with lots of different things, dont just have to be chicken, can be vegetables or anything. I cannot stop eating them. They are like pancakes and are only 250 calories each.

Mexican food IS healthy - just stop eating at Taco Bell! Honestly, if you want the healthiest item, STAY AWAY from RICE (it's a carb and filler) and REFRIED BEANS (refined beans lose they're good-for-you-ness and refried means LARD)!!! No enchiladas or chile relleno for you, but you can try fajitas, carne asada, or even fish. If it's a truly authentic mexican restaurant, they'll have several fish dishes. Enjoy - Mexican food is the best!
