How come people seem to think Taco Bell is mexican food for real?

I've been to that restaurant... and I can assure you , as many people can, that it's not really mexican food at all... just a cheap copy of some dishes. then why do people assume that's the way mexican food is? lol, maybe that's why many don't like it... taco bell. what do you guys think?How come people seem to think Taco Bell is mexican food for real?

Because American culture is what it is; fast, easy. It's become all about the masses, and what will line pockets faster.
maybe because some people have not been exposed to really good Mexican food. You can go to any "authentic" Mexican restaurant and you'll find the food varies from place to place. Everyone has their own ideas about what is good Mexican food. I don't consider tacobell to be Mexican. It's more like bland TexMex.
People don't think it's mexican food, it's just a way to catigorize the food that's served. If it more resembled Chineese food, people would call it a chineeses fast food place.

I also know that the only people who take offense to Taco Bell being called mexican food, are people who think they are better then others because they've experanced things the others haven't.

my friendwas a manager there, and the meat they use for their tacos and burritos, comes in this big box that says "taco filler"!!!

i dont know, but real mexican food is a whole lot better taco bell is messed up lol i have seen them wash the floors with a mop and then take it and wash the table (nasty huh) but the drive-tru is good
i agree. its just an americanized version, which is sooo far off base. if you go into an authentic mexicano restaurant and ask for almost anything on a taco bell menu, you woudnt even think they gave you the right order, b/c its so different. americans need to become more cultured.

well.. yea.. it really isnt mexican food at all what so ever. i guess you can call it some what discrimination. I mean, when some one asks, " do you want tacos?" they asume its mexican food, because mexicans is what they regularly eat. Im guessing that its because they have mexicos main items, like beans, rice, the quesadilla.. etc. This is what i think, i might be wrong.

I call taco bell mexican food, but I know it is not the real thing. It is kinda like McDonalds vs the best burger joint in town -- one is fast food the other is the real thing. :)
